About Community is Medicine
At Community is Medicine, our mission is to close the gaps in mental-health care for young people on Vancouver Island, ensuring every young person receives the support they need and deserve.
We gratefully acknowledge that we are located on the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations.

Our integrated approach
We work with school counsellors and mental health professionals to reach young people who are at risk, struggling with addiction, or experiencing significant trauma.
When the sessions end, our support doesn’t. Young people can still connect through our free anonymous chat, where volunteers are ready to listen.
We also help them stay connected to other trusted services and have the resources they need, so they feel supported at every stage.
Your donation ensures kids can access therapy and receive up to 10 free sessions with professional counsellors we know and trust in the community.
Our goals
-
Our mission is to improve access to support for young people facing challenges and isolation on Vancouver Island. We know that no single solution fits all, which is why we’re for the diversity of services and communities. Together, we can strengthen our efforts to create safe spaces where young people can learn, grow, and find support. We’re here to offer not just help, but a sense of community as they navigate through difficult times.
-
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Community is Medicine helps cover the cost of counselling sessions when those services aren’t covered by insurance and young people face barriers to accessing professional support. You can donate to contribute to this fund here
